Indications
Amoxicillin/Clavulanic Acid is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections that are susceptible to its action, including but not limited to:
- Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as sinusitis, otitis media, and pneumonia.
- Skin and soft tissue infections.
- Urinary tract infections.
- Dental infections.
- Intra-abdominal infections.
- Prevention of infections in surgical procedures.
The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid enhances the antibacterial effect, which is particularly useful in the treatment of infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing microorganisms.
Composition
Each 5 ml of the suspension contains: 400 mg of Amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and 28.57 mg of Clavulanic Acid (as potassium clavulanate).
Contraindications
This medication should not be administered to patients with a history of hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, or any other component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of jaundice or hepatic dysfunction related to the use of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with renal or hepatic diseases. The possibility of hypersensitivity reactions, as well as the occurrence of antibiotic-associated diarrhea, should be considered. It is important to monitor renal function in patients treated for prolonged periods.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. The prepared suspension must be used within a specific period of time according to the manufacturer's instructions.
