Indications
Tums Mast is indicated for the treatment of heartburn, acid indigestion, and gastric discomfort. This medication acts as an antacid, neutralizing excess stomach acid. It is useful for the rapid relief of symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux and can be used in situations where immediate relief from acidity is required. Additionally, it may be beneficial in the treatment of hypocalcemia, contributing to the regulation of calcium levels in the body.
Composition
Each Tums Mast tablet contains 500 mg of Calcium Carbonate as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate the product's formulation and its presentation in tablets.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Calcium Carbonate or any of the formula's components. It should not be used in cases of hypercalcemia, severe kidney disease, or in patients with calcium kidney stones.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with heart conditions or those on a low-sodium diet. Prolonged use of Tums can lead to metabolic alkalosis or an elevation in blood calcium levels. It is advisable to consult a doctor before starting treatment, especially if taking other medications or having pre-existing health conditions.
