Indications
Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine) is indicated for the treatment of partial epileptic seizures in adults and children aged 2 years and older. It can also be used in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. Oxcarbazepine works by reducing abnormal electrical activity in the brain, helping to control seizures. It is important that the use of this medication is part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes regular medical follow-up.
Composition
Each 5 ml of suspension contains 60 mg of oxcarbazepine. Excipients: glycerol, sorbitol, citric acid, raspberry flavor, among others.
Contraindications
Trileptal is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to oxcarbazepine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe skin reactions associated with other anticonvulsants.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with a history of kidney disease, liver disorders, or those who are receiving other anticonvulsant medications. During treatment, it is recommended to monitor for adverse reactions, as well as to regularly monitor blood sodium levels, especially in patients at risk of hyponatremia.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
