Indications
Tresiba (Insulin Degludec) is indicated for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, adolescents, and children aged 1 year and older. This medication is used to provide adequate glycemic control in patients who require insulin. Tresiba can be used in combination with other oral antidiabetic drugs or as a standalone treatment in patients who have not achieved adequate control with other treatments. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions regarding dosage and administration schedule, as this may vary according to the individual needs of the patient.
Composition
Each mL of Tresiba contains 100 units of Insulin Degludec, in addition to excipients necessary for its formulation. It comes in the form of a colorless and odorless solution, suitable for subcutaneous administration.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to insulin degludec or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used during episodes of hypoglycemia or in conditions that require rapid blood glucose correction.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as well as in those with changes in their physical activity regimen or diet. Continuous monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential to prevent hypoglycemic episodes. Additionally, patients should be instructed on the signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia and how to proceed if they occur.
Storage
Store in a refrigerator between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Once opened, the product can be stored at room temperature (up to 30 °C) and must be used within 8 weeks of opening. Keep out of reach of children.
