Indications

Trental is indicated in the treatment of intermittent claudication and for improving circulation in patients with peripheral vascular disorders. It is used to improve blood flow in patients with peripheral arterial diseases who experience symptoms such as leg pain while walking. Pentoxifylline, its active ingredient, works by increasing the flexibility of red blood cells and decreasing blood viscosity, which facilitates its passage through narrow blood vessels. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of other conditions related to poor blood circulation, under medical supervision.

Composition

Each Trental 400 mg tablet contains 400 mg of pentoxifylline as the active ingredient. Excipients are: microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.

Contraindications

Trental is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pentoxifylline or to any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with active bleeding, such as gastrointestinal or cerebral hemorrhages, as well as in those with severe renal insufficiency or severe hepatic insufficiency. Furthermore, its use should be avoided in patients with a history of uncontrolled cardiac arrhythmias.

Precautions

Before initiating treatment with Trental, a complete medical evaluation should be performed. Caution is required in patients with a history of peptic ulcers, hemorrhages, or bleeding disorders. Likewise, the dosage should be adjusted in patients with moderate renal or hepatic insufficiency and in elderly individuals. It is important to monitor blood pressure during treatment.

Storage

Store the product at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
