Indications

Trazidex is a medication indicated for the treatment of ocular infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to tobramycin. Additionally, it is used for the management of ocular inflammation associated with these infections. The combination of tobramycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, and dexamethasone, a potent corticosteroid, allows not only to combat the infection but also to reduce inflammation, thus alleviating symptoms such as redness, itching, and edema in the affected area. This medication is useful in the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis and other inflammatory conditions of the eye where a dual approach is required for the control of infection and inflammation.

Composition

Each 1 g of ointment contains: Tobramycin 3 mg, Dexamethasone 1 mg, excipients q.s.p. 1 g.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to tobramycin, dexamethasone, or any other component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in active viral or fungal eye infections and in cases of ocular herpes simplex. Likewise, its use is contraindicated in patients with glaucoma or who are undergoing treatment with other corticosteroids.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of ocular diseases and in those who are being treated with other medications that may affect ocular health. Intraocular pressure should be monitored in patients using the medication for prolonged periods. It is important not to touch the tip of the ointment tube with fingers or any surface to avoid contamination of the product.
