Indications
Trayenta Duo is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults. This medication is used in combination with diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control in patients who have not achieved adequate control with metformin alone. It can also be used in patients already being treated with the combination of linagliptin and metformin in separate tablets. The use of Trayenta Duo can help reduce hemoglobin A1c and improve overall glycemic control.
Composition
Each Trayenta Duo tablet contains 2.5 mg of linagliptin and 850 mg of metformin. Linagliptin acts as a DPP-4 inhibitor, which helps increase insulin levels and reduce blood glucose levels. Metformin is an antidiabetic that improves insulin sensitivity and decreases glucose production in the liver.
Contraindications
Trayenta Duo is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the formula, as well as in those with severe kidney disease, lactic acidosis, or liver failure. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of pancreatitis or in those with severe dehydration.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken in patients with renal impairment, as metformin is primarily eliminated by the kidneys. It is important to monitor kidney function before and during treatment. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease or those at high risk of dehydration.
Storage
Store at room temperature, in a dry place and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
