Indications
Trayenta Duo is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication is used in combination with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients with inadequate blood glucose levels. The combination of linagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, and metformin, a biguanide, reduces blood glucose in different ways: linagliptin increases insulin secretion in response to meals and decreases glucose production in the liver, while metformin improves insulin sensitivity and decreases glucose absorption in the intestine. It is essential to consider that the use of Trayenta Duo must be part of a comprehensive approach that includes diet and regular exercise.
Composition
Each tablet contains:
- Linagliptin 2.5 mg
- Metformin 1000 mg
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, severe renal failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, conditions that may lead to dehydration or decreased renal function, such as severe dehydration, severe infections, or the use of potent diuretics.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with moderate renal insufficiency, liver diseases, or those at high risk of hypoglycemia. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment with Trayenta Duo. Care should also be taken in situations that may predispose to lactic acidosis, such as excessive alcohol consumption or dehydration.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in its original packaging and out of the reach of children.
