Indications
Trayenta (linagliptin) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics, such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. Linagliptin works by increasing incretin levels, which are hormones that stimulate insulin secretion in response to meals and decrease glucose release from the liver.
Composition
Each Trayenta tablet contains 5 mg of linagliptin as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Trayenta is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, as well as in those with a history of pancreatitis. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment. The safety and efficacy of linagliptin in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been established.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
