Indications
Trayenta is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin. This medication works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which results in an increase in incretin hormones, thereby increasing insulin release and decreasing glucose production by the liver, which helps reduce blood glucose levels.
Composition
Each Trayenta tablet contains 5 mg of linagliptin as the active ingredient. Excipients: Lactose monohydrate, corn starch, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to linagliptin or any of the product's excipients. It is also contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency. It is important to monitor kidney function before and during treatment. Use in pregnant and breastfeeding women is not recommended without medical supervision. The doctor should be informed about any other medications the patient is taking to avoid interactions.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
