Indications
Tesalon (Benzonatate) is a medication indicated for the treatment of non-productive cough, acting as a local anesthetic in the respiratory tract, which helps reduce the cough reflex response. Ibuprofen, on the other hand, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the relief of mild to moderate pain, as well as for reducing fever and inflammation. This combined product is indicated for patients who require symptomatic management of cough and concomitant pain.
Composition
Each Tesalon tablet contains 100 mg of Benzonatate. Each Advil capsule contains 200 mg of Ibuprofen. Excipients: Lactose, starch, talc, and others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Benzonatate, Ibuprofen, or any of the excipients in the formula. It is not recommended for patients with a history of bronchospasm or severe allergic reactions to other medications. Its use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of peptic ulcer, kidney disease, liver disease, and in those taking anticoagulants. Prolonged use of Ibuprofen can cause gastrointestinal and renal adverse effects. Regular monitoring is recommended in patients with pre-existing conditions.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
