Indications
Tenormin (Atenolol) is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure, as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with a history of myocardial infarction. This medication acts as a selective beta-blocker, decreasing heart rate and blood pressure. It is also used in the management of angina pectoris and in the prophylaxis of migraines. It is important that treatment be supervised by a doctor, who will adjust the dose according to the patient's specific needs and their response to the medication.
Composition
Each Tenormin tablet contains 100 mg of Atenolol as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation.
Contraindications
The use of Tenormin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Atenolol or to any component of the formula, as well as in those with severe bradycardia, second or third-degree atrioventricular block, and in cases of decompensated heart failure. Its use should be evaluated in patients with bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and diabetes mellitus, among other conditions.
Precautions
Extreme caution is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency, as the metabolism and excretion of Atenolol may be altered. Likewise, care should be taken when abruptly discontinuing treatment, as this could cause a sudden increase in blood pressure or a worsening of angina. During treatment, regular medical follow-up is essential.
Storage
Store Tenormin at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
