Indications
Tenoretic is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with a history of coronary artery disease. This medication combines two active ingredients: atenolol, a beta-blocker that decreases heart rate and blood pressure, and chlorthalidone, a diuretic that helps reduce the amount of fluid in the body by increasing urine production. The combination of these actions allows for more effective management of hypertension, improving blood pressure control in patients with underlying cardiovascular risk conditions.
Composition
Each Tenoretic tablet contains:
- Atenolol 50 mg
- Chlorthalidone 12.5 mg
Contraindications
Tenoretic is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, severe bradycardia, second or third-degree atrioventricular block, uncontrolled heart failure, sick sinus syndrome, and in patients with a history of bronchial asthma or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Tenoretic in patients with diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, kidney disease, and in those who are being treated with other antihypertensive medications. It is important to regularly monitor blood pressure and kidney function during treatment. Additionally, the possibility of interaction with other medications the patient is using should be considered.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
