Indications
Tegretol Lc is indicated for the treatment of various neurological conditions. It is primarily used in the management of epilepsy, including partial and generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It is also recommended for the treatment of bipolar disorder, specifically in manic episodes, as well as for the management of neuropathic pain, such as trigeminal neuralgia. Carbamazepine works by stabilizing the electrical activity of the brain, thus preventing the occurrence of seizures and other associated symptoms.
Composition
Each Tegretol Lc 200 mg tablet contains 200 mg of carbamazepine as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and absorption of the medicine.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to carbamazepine or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with a history of atrioventricular block, acute intermittent porphyria, or those with a history of severe adverse reactions to other anticonvulsants. Likewise, its use should be avoided in patients with severe liver disease.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of hematological disorders, liver diseases, or those taking other drugs that may interact with carbamazepine. Regular monitoring of blood sodium levels is necessary, as cases of hyponatremia have been reported. Administration in pregnant or lactating women should be carefully evaluated by a doctor.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
