Indications
Synthroid (Levothyroxine Sodium) is indicated for the treatment of hypothyroidism, which is the thyroid gland's inability to produce adequate amounts of thyroid hormones. This medication is used for the replacement or supplementation of thyroid hormones in conditions such as goiter, congenital hypothyroidism, acquired hypothyroidism, and in certain cases of thyroid cancer. Levothyroxine can also be used in the suppression of goiter and in the management of certain thyroid-related conditions. It is recommended that treatment be initiated with low doses and adjusted according to the needs of each patient, in order to avoid adverse effects and ensure proper hormone therapy.
Composition
Each Synthroid tablet contains 88 mcg of Levothyroxine Sodium, in addition to excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to levothyroxine or any of the formulation's components. It should also be avoided in cases of untreated adrenal disease, untreated acute myocardial infarction, and acute thyroiditis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Synthroid to patients with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, and coagulation disorders. Regular medical follow-up is recommended to adjust the dose and monitor thyroid function, as well as to evaluate possible interactions with other medications.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
