Indications

Symbicort is indicated for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe asthma who require additional treatment with an inhaled corticosteroid. It is also indicated for the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in patients experiencing persistent symptoms and frequent exacerbations. The combination of budesonide, a corticosteroid, and formoterol, a long-acting beta-agonist, works by relieving inflammation and dilating the airways, thereby improving lung function and the quality of life of patients. This medication is used as maintenance treatment and is not recommended for acute relief of symptoms.

Composition

Each dose of inhalation powder contains: Budesonide 80 Mcg and Formoterol 4.5 Mcg.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the medication, as well as in those with acute episodes of severe asthma requiring immediate rescue treatment. It should not be used in patients with severe heart disease or in those who have had severe allergic reactions to other beta-agonists.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, epilepsy, and hyperactive thyroid. Adequate monitoring of lung function and dose adjustment as needed is recommended. It is important not to exceed the recommended dose and to avoid concomitant use with other medications that may potentiate the adverse effects of beta-agonists.

Storage

Store in its original container, protected from light and at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
