Indications

Symbicort is indicated for the treatment of asthma patients who require maintenance treatment with corticosteroids and a long-acting bronchodilator. It is also indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in patients who experience persistent symptoms despite the use of a short-acting bronchodilator. This medication can help improve lung function and reduce the frequency of exacerbations in these patients.

Composition

Each dose of Symbicort dry powder contains 160 mcg of Budesonide and 4.5 mcg of Formoterol fumarate dihydrate, as well as excipients necessary for the inhaler's formulation.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, as well as in those who experience acute asthma episodes requiring intensive treatment. It should not be used in patients with severe heart disease or in those who are being treated with certain medications that may interact with corticosteroids.

Precautions

Precautions should be taken in patients with a history of heart disease, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, and in those with respiratory infections. It is important to monitor lung function and response to treatment, as well as to be alert to possible adverse effects related to long-term corticosteroid use.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C. Keep the inhaler in its original packaging and protected from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
