Indications
Stelazine (Trifluoperazine) is indicated for the treatment of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and other severe mental disorders. It can be used to control symptoms such as agitation, hostility, and paranoia. It may also be indicated in cases of behavioral disorders in pediatric patients, as well as in the treatment of severe nausea and vomiting, especially when these are refractory to other treatments. It is important that the use of this medication be supervised by a specialist physician, who will determine the dose and duration of treatment according to the individual needs of the patient.
Composition
Each Stelazine tablet contains 5 mg of trifluoperazine as the active ingredient. Excipients may include lactose, starch, and other inactive components that facilitate the tablet's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to trifluoperazine or any of the excipients. It should not be administered in cases of central nervous system depression, coma, or in patients with Parkinson's disease. Furthermore, its use is contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women, unless deemed absolutely necessary by the physician.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, hematological disorders, and in those who are being treated with other drugs that may interact with trifluoperazine. Close monitoring during treatment is essential, and the dose should be adjusted if adverse effects occur. It is suggested to avoid exposure to alcohol and other central nervous system depressants during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
