Indications
Spiriva is indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma in patients who require additional treatment with a long-acting bronchodilator. Its use helps improve lung function and reduce shortness of breath in patients with these conditions. It is indicated for symptom relief and improvement in quality of life in patients suffering from these chronic respiratory diseases.
Composition
Each Spiriva capsule contains 18 mcg of tiotropium bromide as an active ingredient. Excipients include: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, among others.
Contraindications
Spiriva should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to tiotropium bromide or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe asthma or those who frequently require the use of a rescue bronchodilator.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia, or urinary retention. It is important to monitor the clinical response and lung function of patients undergoing treatment. The recommended dose should not be exceeded, and concomitant use with other anticholinergics should be avoided.
Storage
Store at room temperature, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
