Indications
Sophixin Drops is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in various locations. Common indications include respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain skin and soft tissue infections. It is also used in the treatment of infections caused by organisms susceptible to ciprofloxacin, including strains of Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This medication works by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis, resulting in the death of pathogenic bacteria.
Composition
Each ml of Sophixin Drops contains 3 mg of ciprofloxacin as the active ingredient. Excipients include purified water and citric acid, among others. It is important to check the packaging for detailed information on all components.
Contraindications
Sophixin Drops is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other antibiotics of the same family (fluoroquinolones). Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of tendinopathy related to fluoroquinolone use. Likewise, its use should be avoided in children and growing adolescents due to the risk of damage to growth cartilage.
Precautions
The use of Sophixin Drops should be evaluated in patients with a history of seizures, kidney or liver disease, and in those who are being treated with anticoagulants. Special care should be taken in elderly patients, as they may be more susceptible to adverse effects. Avoid concomitant use with medications that may affect the central nervous system or with supplements containing calcium, iron, or zinc, as they may interfere with ciprofloxacin absorption.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
