Indications
Soliqua is indicated as a treatment for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control through diet and exercise and who require insulin therapy. This medication combines insulin glargine, a long-acting insulin analog, with lixisenatide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is designed to help reduce blood glucose levels and improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Composition
Each milliliter of Soliqua contains 100 units of insulin glargine and 33 micrograms of lixisenatide, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components, as well as in those who experience severe hypoglycemic episodes. It should not be used by patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken when administering Soliqua in patients with a history of kidney or liver disease, as well as in those with a history of pancreatitis. It is important to monitor blood glucose levels and adjust the dose as needed. Additionally, caution should be exercised when driving vehicles and operating machinery, as it may cause hypoglycemia.
Storage
Soliqua should be stored in refrigeration between 2°C and 8°C. It should not be frozen. Once opened, it can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) for a maximum of 14 days. Keep out of reach of children.
