Indications
Sifrol ER is indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease in adult patients. It is used both as monotherapy and in combination with other anti-Parkinsonian medications. This medication acts as a dopamine receptor agonist, helping to improve motor function and reduce symptoms associated with the disease, such as rigidity, tremor, and bradykinesia. In addition, it has been used in the treatment of restless legs syndrome, providing relief to patients who experience an uncontrollable urge to move their legs, especially at rest.
Composition
Each Sifrol ER tablet contains 1.5 mg of pramipexole as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose monohydrate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components that facilitate the medication's formulation.
Contraindications
Sifrol ER is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pramipexole or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment and in those with a history of behavioral disorders related to the use of dopamine agonists.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Sifrol ER to patients with cardiovascular diseases, psychiatric disorders, or those who are being treated with other medications that affect the central nervous system. Regular clinical follow-up is recommended to adjust the dose as needed. The appearance of drowsiness or sudden sleep episodes should be reported to the treating physician.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
