Indications
Shorant (Insulin Glulisine) is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults and children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. This rapid-acting insulin is used for postprandial blood glucose control, i.e., to help reduce blood glucose levels after meals. Patients are advised to follow an appropriate dietary regimen and exercise plan, in addition to regularly monitoring their glucose levels to ensure optimal diabetes control. The dose and timing of administration should be adjusted according to the individual patient's needs and the recommendations of the treating physician.
Composition
Each milliliter of Shorant contains insulin glulisine 100 Units/mL. Excipients: sodium chloride, water for injection, hydrochloric acid, and sodium hydroxide.
Contraindications
Shorant is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to insulin glulisine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with episodes of hypoglycemia or in those with conditions that may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with kidney or liver disease, as insulin dosage may require adjustments. Likewise, it is important to frequently monitor blood glucose levels to avoid episodes of hypoglycemia. Insulin administration should be performed by trained personnel, and patients should receive adequate instruction on injection technique and pen use. Mixing insulin glulisine with other insulins in the same syringe is not recommended.
Storage
Shorant should be stored refrigerated between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Once opened, it can be kept at room temperature (not above 30 °C) for up to 28 days. Keep out of reach of children.
