Indications

Seroquel XR (Quetiapine) is indicated for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including:

  • Schizophrenia: Seroquel XR is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and adolescents aged 13 and older.
  • Bipolar disorder: It is used for the treatment of manic and mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder, as well as for the prevention of manic episodes in patients with bipolar disorder.
  • Major depression: It is indicated as an adjunctive treatment in adult patients with major depression who do not respond adequately to antidepressant treatment alone.

Composition

Each Seroquel XR tablet contains 150 mg of quetiapine as the active ingredient. Excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, and other inactive components that facilitate formulation.

Contraindications

Seroquel XR is contraindicated in patients with:

  • Known hypersensitivity to quetiapine or any component of the formulation.
  • Concomitant use with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors.
  • History of severe cardiovascular events, such as recent myocardial infarction or congestive heart failure.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of:

  • Cardiovascular disorders, including arrhythmias.
  • Seizures or a history of seizures.
  • Diabetes mellitus, as it may cause weight gain and changes in glycemic control.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature between 15 and 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
