Indications
Senokot is indicated for the treatment of occasional constipation. Its action is based on the stimulation of intestinal motility, facilitating the passage of stools. It is useful in situations where faster bowel evacuation is required, such as in cases of hemorrhoids, anal fissures, or after certain surgeries. Additionally, it can be used as part of a preparation regimen for diagnostic procedures, such as colonoscopies. Prolonged use without medical supervision is not recommended, as it can lead to dependence.
Composition
Each tablet contains 8.6 mg of sennosides A-B as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Senokot is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to sennosides or any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in cases of intestinal obstruction, appendicitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and in patients with severe dehydration. It should not be used in children under 12 years of age without the supervision of a doctor.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with chronic intestinal diseases, as well as in those who present persistent abdominal symptoms. It is advisable to consult a doctor before starting treatment, especially if the person has a history of gastrointestinal diseases. Prolonged use can result in a decrease in normal intestinal function.
