Indications

Selective (Escitalopram) is indicated for the treatment of major depressive episodes in adults. It is also used in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Its action is based on the selective inhibition of serotonin reuptake, which contributes to mood improvement and anxiety reduction. It is important that the use of this medication be supervised by a healthcare professional, who will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment according to the individual characteristics of the patient.

Composition

Each Selective tablet contains 10 mg of escitalopram, as well as excipients that allow for the formulation and stability of the product.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to escitalopram or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients receiving treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and in those with a history of serotonin syndrome.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of mania or bipolar disorder, as well as in those with a history of seizures. The risk of suicide should be assessed in young patients and in those with a history of suicidal behavior.
