Indications

Sandostatin Lar is used in the treatment of various medical conditions, including:

  • Acromegaly: a disease caused by excessive production of growth hormone.
  • Neuroendocrine tumors: for the control of symptoms such as diarrhea and facial flushing episodes associated with these tumors.
  • Treatment of complications associated with severe acute pancreatitis.
  • Control of gastrointestinal hormone secretion in patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Composition

Each pre-filled syringe of Sandostatin Lar contains 30 mg of octreotide as the active ingredient. It also contains suitable excipients to ensure the stability and bioavailability of the medicine.

Contraindications

This medicine is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Known hypersensitivity to octreotide or to any of the product's excipients.
  • In patients with a history of chronic pancreatitis.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those with hypoglycemia or alterations in thyroid function. During treatment, it is recommended to monitor blood glucose levels, as it may affect carbohydrate metabolism.

Storage

Store at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C in its original packaging to protect it from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
