Indications
Samyr is indicated for the treatment of liver-related disorders, such as alcoholic and non-alcoholic hepatitis, as well as chronic liver diseases. It is also used in cases of depression and mood disorders due to its ability to act as a neurotransmitter precursor. This medication may be useful in the treatment of mood alterations associated with chronic fatigue syndrome and stress. Its use has been studied in patients with liver cirrhosis, where an improvement in liver biochemical parameters has been observed.
Composition
Each Samyr tablet contains 500 mg of ademetionine as the active ingredient. Excipients are: microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inert components that contribute to the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Samyr is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ademetionine or any of the formulation's components. Caution should also be exercised in patients with manic disorders, as its use has been reported to exacerbate these episodes.
Precautions
It is recommended to assess liver function before starting treatment. In the case of patients with psychiatric disorders, adequate monitoring should be maintained during therapy. Its use in combination with antidepressants is not recommended without a doctor's supervision.
Storage
Store at room temperature, in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
