Indications
Salofalk (Mesalazine) is indicated for the treatment of active ulcerative colitis, as well as for the prevention of relapse in patients with a history of ulcerative colitis. This medication acts locally in the intestine, reducing inflammation and alleviating symptoms associated with this digestive disease. In addition, it is used in the treatment of active Crohn's disease, contributing to the improvement of symptoms and the remission of the disease. Mesalazine is an anti-inflammatory that provides a direct effect on the intestinal mucosa, promoting the healing of lesions and improving the patient's quality of life.
Composition
Each Salofalk suppository contains 250 mg of mesalazine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and administration of the medication.
Contraindications
Salofalk is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mesalazine or any of the product's excipients. Its use should also be avoided in patients with severe renal insufficiency and in those with a history of allergic reactions to sulfasalazine.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hematological diseases, as well as in those with a history of gastrointestinal problems. Regular monitoring of renal function during treatment is important. Likewise, patients should be informed about the possibility of gastrointestinal adverse effects, such as diarrhea or abdominal pain.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
