Indications
Salofalk (Mesalazine) is indicated for the treatment of active and quiescent ulcerative colitis, as well as Crohn's disease. Its action is based on reducing inflammation in the intestine, which helps alleviate symptoms associated with these conditions, such as diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and abdominal pain. Mesalazine acts locally in the intestine, promoting the healing of mucosal lesions and maintaining long-term remission in patients with ulcerative colitis.
Composition
Each Salofalk tablet contains 250 mg of mesalazine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients: stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and others, which aid in the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Salofalk is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mesalazine or any of the excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal failure or severe liver diseases. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of lung disease or coagulation problems.
Precautions
It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment with Salofalk, especially in patients with a history of kidney disease. Concomitant use of other medications that may affect renal function should be avoided. Liver function tests are also recommended before starting treatment. Patients with a history of allergic reactions or asthma should be carefully evaluated before use.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
