Indications
Sagabrin is a medication indicated for the treatment of lactose intolerance. It is used in patients who experience gastrointestinal symptoms, such as abdominal distension, diarrhea, and cramps, after consuming dairy products. Lactase is an enzyme that helps break down lactose into glucose and galactose, thus facilitating its digestion and absorption in the small intestine. Sagabrin is recommended for use by individuals who have a deficiency in lactase production, allowing them to include dairy in their diet without experiencing adverse symptoms.
Composition
Each milliliter of Sagabrin contains 3000 lactase units. It also contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Sagabrin should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to lactase or any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with galactosemia, a hereditary condition that prevents the metabolism of galactose.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with severe gastrointestinal conditions, such as malabsorption syndromes, which may alter the effectiveness of the treatment. It is also important to inform the doctor about any other medications being taken, as there may be interactions that affect lactase absorption.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
