Indications
Rybelsus is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults, as an adjunct to an appropriate diet and exercise. This medication helps improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes and can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetic medications. Rybelsus works by mimicking the action of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), which increases insulin secretion in response to meals, decreases glucagon release, and delays gastric emptying, contributing to the reduction of blood glucose.
Composition
Each Rybelsus tablet contains 7 mg of semaglutide as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Rybelsus is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to semaglutide or any of the components of the formulation. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes, or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. It is also contraindicated in people with a history of pancreatitis, as well as in those with gastrointestinal conditions that alter drug absorption.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with kidney or liver disease, as well as in those with a history of pancreatitis. It is important to monitor renal function in patients treated with Rybelsus, especially in those with risk factors. Similarly, caution should be exercised in patients with a family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 °C and 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
