Indications
Rybelsus (semaglutide) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. This medication acts as a GLP-1 receptor agonist, meaning it helps regulate blood sugar levels. It is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease. It is important to note that Rybelsus is not indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Its use must be accompanied by appropriate medical supervision and a comprehensive diabetes management program.
Composition
Each Rybelsus tablet contains 3 mg of semaglutide, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Rybelsus is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to semaglutide or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of acute pancreatitis. Its use is not recommended in individuals with type 1 diabetes or in those with diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis, severe kidney disease, or in those who are at high risk of developing hypoglycemia. Before initiating treatment, a complete medical evaluation is recommended to determine the suitability of Rybelsus use in each patient. During treatment, patients should be monitored regularly to adjust the dose as needed and to detect any adverse effects.
Storage
Rybelsus should be stored in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. The box and packaging should be kept in their original packaging to ensure protection against moisture and light.
