Indications
Rybelsus is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. This medication can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics and/or insulin. Rybelsus acts by stimulating insulin secretion in response to food intake and decreasing glucose production in the liver.
Additionally, Rybelsus may aid in weight reduction in overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetes. It has been shown to improve glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and contribute to weight loss in treated patients.
Composition
Each Rybelsus tablet contains 14 mg of semaglutide as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as mannitol, acetic acid, among others, which facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Rybelsus is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to semaglutide or any of the product's excipients. Its use is not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Furthermore, it should not be administered to patients with a history of acute pancreatitis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis, gastrointestinal diseases, kidney problems, or in those taking medications that may cause hypoglycemia. It is recommended to monitor blood glucose levels and renal function during treatment with Rybelsus.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
