Indications
Ritalin LA (Methylphenidate) is indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents, as well as for the treatment of narcolepsy in adults. Methylphenidate administration may contribute to improving attention, concentration, and impulse control in individuals diagnosed with ADHD. Its use should be part of a comprehensive treatment program that includes psychological, educational, and social measures.
Composition
Each Ritalin LA capsule contains 40 mg of Methylphenidate, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation. It is essential to review the medication leaflet to know all the components and their function.
Contraindications
Ritalin LA is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Methylphenidate or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in individuals with a history of tics, Tourette's syndrome, glaucoma, severe hyperactivity, as well as those with a history of substance abuse or dependence.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hypertension, cardiovascular problems, psychiatric illnesses, as well as those taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Regular medical evaluation is recommended to monitor blood pressure and growth in children on long-term treatment. This medication should not be used in combination with certain antidepressants or psychoactive drugs without proper supervision from a healthcare professional.
Storage
Ritalin LA should be stored at room temperature, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
