Indications
Ritalin LA is indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents, and adults. This medication helps improve attention, reduce hyperactivity, and control impulses. It is also used in the treatment of narcolepsy, a sleep disorder characterized by episodes of extreme daytime sleepiness. It is important that treatment is supervised by a physician, who will evaluate the patient's response to the medication and adjust the dose if necessary.
Composition
Each Ritalin LA capsule contains 20 mg of methylphenidate, as well as inactive excipients that facilitate the administration and absorption of the drug.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to methylphenidate or any component of the formula. It should not be used in individuals with glaucoma, tics, or a family history of Tourette's, as well as in those who have shown severe adverse reactions to stimulants. Its use during pregnancy and lactation should be carefully evaluated by a healthcare professional.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of cardiovascular problems, hypertension, or psychiatric disorders. Regular follow-up with your doctor is necessary to monitor growth in children and adolescents, as well as the appearance of adverse effects. Concomitant administration with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) should be avoided.
