Indications
Risperdal is indicated for the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and manic episodes. It is also used in the treatment of irritability associated with autism in children and adolescents. Risperidone acts on various receptors in the brain, helping to stabilize mood and reduce symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and aggressive behaviors.
Composition
Each Risperdal tablet contains 2 mg of risperidone as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Risperdal is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to risperidone or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of agranulocytosis or tardive dystonia related to the use of antipsychotics. Its use in patients with Parkinson's disease or Lewy body dementia is not recommended.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, liver or kidney problems. It is also recommended to monitor weight and blood glucose levels, as risperidone may contribute to weight gain and the risk of diabetes. It is advisable to assess the risk of neuroleptic malignant syndrome and extrapyramidal adverse reactions.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep the medication out of reach of children and protect it from light and moisture.
