Indications
Rhophylac is indicated for the prophylaxis of hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) caused by Rh incompatibility between the mother and the fetus. It is used in Rh-negative pregnant women who have given birth to an Rh-positive baby or who have had a spontaneous or induced abortion in which the fetus was Rh-positive. Additionally, it can be used in situations of maternal hemorrhage or invasive procedures during pregnancy. Its use is also recommended in patients requiring blood transfusions who are Rh-negative, to prevent sensitization to the Rh antigen.
Composition
Each Rhophylac syringe contains 300 mcg of human anti-D immunoglobulin, in addition to excipients that allow for its proper administration and preservation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to human immunoglobulin or any of the formula's components. It should not be administered to patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia or to those with conditions that compromise the efficacy of prophylaxis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with active viral infections or those with coagulation problems. Compatibility tests are recommended before administering Rhophylac, especially in blood transfusion situations. It is essential to follow the doctor's instructions and conduct appropriate follow-up after drug administration.
Storage
Rhophylac should be stored in a cool, dry place, at temperatures between 2°C and 8°C. It should not be frozen. Keep out of reach of children.
