Indications
Revolade (eltrombopag) is indicated for the treatment of thrombocytopenia-related disorders, including immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) in adults and children over 1 year of age who have not responded adequately to other treatments. It is also used in patients with thrombocytopenia associated with myelodysplastic syndromes or in the context of long-term chemotherapy treatments, where the goal is to increase platelet count to prevent hemorrhagic complications. This medication acts as a thrombopoietin receptor agonist, stimulating platelet production in the bone marrow.
Composition
Each Revolade tablet contains 50 mg of eltrombopag and excipients necessary for its formulation. It is important to check the labeling for information on the specific excipients included in the formulation.
Contraindications
Revolade is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to eltrombopag or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with severe liver disease or in patients suffering from thrombocythemias that do not respond to thrombopoietin therapy.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of platelet count and liver function is recommended in patients receiving Revolade treatment. Special care should be taken in patients with a history of liver disease, as well as in those receiving other medications that may affect liver function. In addition, the use of eltrombopag in combination with certain antibiotics and antiviral agents that may alter its metabolism should be avoided.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
