Indications
Resotrans is indicated for the treatment of chronic constipation in adults. Prucalopride acts as a selective 5-HT4 serotonin receptor agonist, which promotes increased intestinal motility and improves stool frequency. This medication is particularly useful in patients who have not responded adequately to laxatives and who experience a deterioration in quality of life due to constipation symptoms. The recommended dose is one tablet daily, administered orally, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Regular medical follow-up during treatment is important.
Composition
Each Resotrans tablet contains 2 mg of prucalopride as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to prucalopride or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should also not be used in patients with intestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal perforation, or active inflammatory bowel disease.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Additionally, it is suggested to evaluate renal function before starting treatment, as prucalopride is largely metabolized by the kidneys. Dose adjustment is recommended in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in a dry place and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
