Indications
Resotrans is indicated for the treatment of chronic constipation in adults. Prucalopride, its active ingredient, acts as a selective agonist of 5-HT4 serotonin receptors, which facilitates intestinal transit and improves the frequency of bowel movements. It is especially useful in patients who have not responded adequately to other laxatives. Furthermore, Resotrans may be considered in those with decreased intestinal motility who experience symptoms such as bloating and abdominal discomfort associated with constipation.
Composition
Each tablet contains 1 mg of prucalopride as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, colloidal anhydrous silica, and other inert excipients.
Contraindications
Resotrans is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to prucalopride or any component of the formulation. Additionally, it should not be administered to individuals with mechanical intestinal obstruction, intestinal perforation, or severe inflammatory bowel disease.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Resotrans in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders or those presenting severe symptoms. It is important to assess renal function before initiating treatment, as prucalopride elimination may be affected in patients with renal impairment. Monitoring treatment response and adjusting the dose if necessary is recommended.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
