Indications
Repatha is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia) who are not adequately controlled with diet and other lipid-lowering treatments; as well as in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. It is also indicated as adjunctive therapy in adult patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease who require additional LDL-C (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol) reduction.
Composition
Each Repatha syringe contains 140 mg of evolocumab in 1 ml of injectable solution. Excipients are: sodium chloride, acetic acid, sodium acetate and water for injection.
Contraindications
Repatha is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to evolocumab or to any of the excipients of this medicine. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other PCSK9 inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Repatha to patients with a history of allergic reactions. It is important to monitor LDL cholesterol levels in treated patients and to assess the need to continue treatment if adequate reduction is not achieved. Safety and efficacy in patients under 18 years of age have not been studied.
Storage
Store in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze. Keep in its original packaging to protect it from light. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
