Indications

Remicital is indicated for the treatment of major depressive episodes, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. This medication works by modulating serotonin reuptake in the central nervous system, which helps to improve mood and reduce anxiety. Its use is recommended under strict medical supervision, considering that each patient may require a dosage adjustment according to their clinical response and tolerance to the treatment.

Composition

Each Remicital tablet contains 20 mg of citalopram as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that allow for the proper formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to citalopram or any of the excipients in the formula. Likewise, its use in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) is prohibited, as is its use in patients with a history of serotonin syndrome. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of bipolar disorders, as the use of antidepressants may trigger manic episodes.

Precautions

Careful evaluation is recommended for patients with a history of seizure disorders, liver or kidney problems, as well as those at risk of suicide. The use of Remicital requires regular monitoring, especially at the beginning of treatment and during dose changes. It is important to consider possible side effects, which may include, among others, drowsiness, dizziness, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
