Indications
Rapamune (Sirolimus) is indicated for the prevention of organ rejection in patients who have received a kidney transplant. This medication is used in combination with other immunosuppressants to improve treatment efficacy and reduce the possibility of rejection of the transplanted organ. Additionally, it can be used in the treatment of certain malignancies, such as T-cell lymphoma, in selected patients. It is essential that the use of Rapamune is supervised by a specialist physician, who will evaluate the patient's clinical situation and determine the appropriate dose.
Composition
Each Rapamune tablet contains 1 mg of Sirolimus as the active ingredient. It also includes excipients that facilitate the formulation and absorption of the medication.
Contraindications
Rapamune is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Sirolimus or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with severe hepatic insufficiency or those with active uncontrolled infections. Furthermore, its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless the benefit outweighs the potential risks.
Precautions
Caution is important in patients with a history of recurrent infections, lung or liver diseases, as well as in those receiving concomitant immunosuppressive treatments. Kidney function and blood Sirolimus levels should be regularly monitored to avoid toxicities. In addition, periodic laboratory tests are recommended to assess treatment tolerance.
Storage
Rapamune should be stored at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
