Indications
Questran (Cholestyramine) is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia, as part of a comprehensive approach that includes an appropriate diet and other non-pharmacological measures. It is used to lower LDL cholesterol levels in patients who do not respond to diet or when diet alone is not sufficient. Additionally, it can be useful in the management of diarrhea associated with bile acid malabsorption, and in some cases, to relieve pruritus associated with cholestasis. Cholestyramine works by binding to bile acids in the intestine, which leads to their excretion and, consequently, a decrease in cholesterol absorption.
Composition
Each sachet of Questran contains cholestyramine in an amount of 4 grams, along with excipients that facilitate its dissolution and absorption. It is important to review the complete list of ingredients before use.
Contraindications
Questran should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to cholestyramine or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in patients with complete intestinal obstruction or in those with active or chronic pancreatitis caused by hyperlipidemia. Caution should be exercised in patients with gastrointestinal diseases that may be exacerbated by cholesterol reduction.
Precautions
It is important to monitor blood lipid levels during treatment with Questran. Liver and kidney function should be assessed before starting treatment. Additionally, cholestyramine may interfere with the absorption of other medications, so an adequate time interval between the administration of cholestyramine and other drugs should be considered.

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
