Indications
Qlaira is indicated for contraception in women of childbearing age. This combined contraceptive works by inhibiting ovulation and altering the cervical mucus, which hinders the passage of sperm into the uterus. In addition, it helps regulate the menstrual cycle, decreasing the intensity of menstruation and reducing the risk of iron deficiency anemia associated with menstrual blood loss. It can also be used for the treatment of menstrual disorders such as premenstrual syndrome and endometriosis.
Composition
Each Qlaira tablet contains 3 mg of Dienogest and 3 mg of Estradiol. Excipients include lactose, corn starch, and other inactive components that allow for tablet formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should not be used in women with a history of venous or arterial thrombosis, severe liver diseases, hormone-dependent tumors, or undiagnosed vaginal bleeding. Likewise, it is not recommended for women over 35 years of age who smoke and for those with medical conditions that predispose them to thromboembolic events.
Precautions
Regular medical follow-up is recommended during treatment. Women with a family history of thrombosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, or migraines should be carefully evaluated before starting this treatment. It is important to inform the doctor about any adverse effects or unusual symptoms during the use of Qlaira.
