Indications
Provera is indicated for the treatment of menstrual disorders and other hormonal problems. It is used in the treatment of secondary amenorrhea, i.e., the absence of menstruation in women who previously had regular menstrual cycles. It is also prescribed for the management of endometriosis and for the treatment of certain types of hormone-responsive cancers, such as endometrial cancer. Provera can be part of a hormone replacement therapy regimen in postmenopausal women, helping to counteract the effects of progesterone deficiency.
Composition
Each Provera tablet contains: Medroxyprogesterone 10 mg as active ingredient. Excipients: Lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, talc, among others.
Contraindications
Provera is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to medroxyprogesterone or any of the excipients. It should not be used in cases of undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, known or suspected breast cancer, and severe liver diseases. Its use during pregnancy is contraindicated.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of thromboembolism, cardiovascular diseases, or liver disorders. Regular medical follow-up is recommended during treatment. Provera should not be used as a contraceptive method.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
