Indications
Prograf XL is indicated for the prevention of rejection in patients who have received a solid organ transplant, such as a kidney, liver, or heart. It is used in combination with other immunosuppressive drugs to achieve greater efficacy in suppressing the patient's immune system, which helps prevent the body from rejecting the new organ. It can also be used in the treatment of certain autoimmune diseases where it is necessary to suppress the body's immune response.
Composition
Each Prograf XL capsule contains 1 mg of tacrolimus as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
Prograf XL is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to tacrolimus or any of the excipients in the formulation. In addition, its use should be carefully evaluated in patients with a history of liver or kidney disease, as well as in those with active infections.
Precautions
Special care should be taken when administering Prograf XL to patients with a history of severe infections, as the use of immunosuppressants can increase the risk of infections. Monitoring tacrolimus blood levels is also recommended, as the dose may require adjustment based on clinical response and plasma levels. It is essential that patients maintain regular medical follow-up to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and the appearance of side effects.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep the container tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
