Indications

Pristiq is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorders in adults. Desvenlafaxine, its active ingredient, acts as a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which helps balance neurotransmitters in the brain. This medication can be helpful in reducing symptoms of depression, such as sadness, loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities, and sleep disturbances. It can also be used in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. The efficacy of Pristiq has been evaluated in multiple clinical trials, showing a significant improvement in the quality of life of treated patients.

Composition

Each tablet contains 50 mg of desvenlafaxine, as well as previously established excipients. Consult the product packaging for a complete list of excipients and their function.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to desvenlafaxine or any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients who are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in those who have discontinued MAOI treatment in the last 14 days. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of heart disease.

Precautions

It is recommended to assess the risk of suicide in adolescent and young adult patients during treatment with Pristiq. It is important to monitor for the appearance of new symptoms or worsening of symptoms during treatment. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of seizures or at risk of developing angle-closure glaucoma.

Storage

Store the medication at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
