Indications
Pristiq is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorders in adults. Desvenlafaxine, its active ingredient, acts as a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), helping to improve mood and relieve symptoms associated with depression. This medication may be considered for patients who have not responded adequately to other antidepressant treatments, as well as for those who require continuous treatment to prevent relapse. It is important that the administration of the drug be supervised by a physician, who can adjust the dose and evaluate the patient's response to the treatment.
Composition
Each Pristiq tablet contains 100 mg of desvenlafaxine as succinate, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Pristiq is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to desvenlafaxine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients who are receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have stopped using them within the last two weeks.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in its use in patients with a history of bleeding disorders, uncontrolled hypertension, heart disease, or in those who are being treated with other medications that affect the central nervous system. Regular medical monitoring during treatment with Pristiq is essential to monitor for adverse effects and the efficacy of the treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
